J. KnightAs you are aware dad passed away at home recently.
Mom and I and my sisters wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the kindness and compassion you all showed dad in the last few months of his life.
I wish you could have met my dad before he was ill. He had a great personality and was fiercely independent. He was a proud and intensely private man when it came to his own personal care.
When he left hospital at the end of August having broken his hip we were all so worried how he would cope with needing to have carers to allow him to remain at home.
But instead of being a negative experience you all turned this into a positive. Your kindness and humour you showed towards him lifted his mood when you came. It was so lovely to hear the banter between dad and yourselves whilst you cared for him. He became fond of all of you and enjoyed hearing of your hobbies and interests. You shared your lives with him and allowed him for short periods of time to escape his own suffering. You allowed him to become a friend rather than a patient. He often chatted about you each by name interested in your latest adventures.
We can never thank you enough for everything you did for dad. We will always be grateful.
Gill
